If something is not working
The common problems, and what usually fixes them.
The host does not appear when I scan
Check these in order:
- Wi-Fi is on on both devices. You do not need to be connected to a network, but the Wi-Fi radio has to be switched on.
- MeshRoute is open on both devices. It cannot run in the background on its own.
- The host is actually live. On the host, the round button should be on and it should say it is waiting for a peer.
- The devices are close together. This is a direct radio link, so keep them in the same room to start with.
If it still does not show up, turn the round button off and on again on both devices.
It connects, then drops
Something usually quit or went to sleep. Keep MeshRoute open and the screen awake on both devices while you are testing.
On a Mac, closing the window is fine. Quitting from the menu bar is not.
I ran out of time for today
The free plan gives you 10 minutes a day in total. When it runs out, the mesh stops until tomorrow.
Pro removes the limit.
Only one device can join
That is the free plan limit. One host plus one device. Pro lets you connect up to 29.
It is slow
The free plan caps speed at 5 Mbps. Pro removes the cap.
If you are on Pro and it is still slow, move the devices closer together. Speed drops with distance and through walls.
MeshRoute asks for my password again
This is normal after an update, and it happens at most once per update. See Why MeshRoute asks for your password.
Photos will not save
MeshRoute needs permission to add to your photo library. Open your device Settings, find MeshRoute, and turn on Photos.
You can also use the share sheet to save the file somewhere else instead.
Still stuck?
Email support@meshroute.app. Tell us what the two devices are and what you see on screen, and we will help.
